$140,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr About HiO HiO is an AI Business Partner for small business owners - helping them grow their business through every customer conversation, acting as a proactive partner that surfaces opportunities and flags what actually needs the owner's attention. Why this role exists Small business owners are some of the most capable operators anywhere. What they don't have is time, and they've never had a true partner in the work: someone who knows their customers, spots what's changing, and acts on it. AI finally makes that partner possible, and we’re here to deliver it. Your job is to help us figure out how to get in front of these busy SMB owners. As our Growth Marketer, you'll own the growth engine end-to-end, from paid acquisition and web site optimization to SEO, LLMO, and AI-powered marketing operations. This is a hands-on builder role for someone who enjoys creating systems from scratch, moving quickly, and partnering closely within a small but ambitious team. Location: Remote (U.S.) Working hours: EST time zone
What they own
- Paid media: strategy, channel selection, budget allocation, campaign build, and optimization across paid social and search. Full ownership from planning through reporting.
- SEO & AI/LLM visibility: owns organic search from technical SEO through content strategy, and HiO's visibility in AI tools.
- Website conversion optimization: landing pages, signup/trial flow, on-site A/B testing.
- Referral: builds and owns referral mechanics to drive user-driven acquisition.
- Channel experimentation: expected to identify, pitch, and test new or unconventional channels as opportunities arise, and kill what doesn't work fast. Think influencer, community, partnership, etc.
- Experimentation: runs structured A/B tests across paid, lifecycle, on-site, and in-product; builds a testing cadence from scratch.
- Growth analytics: funnel instrumentation and reporting. Tracks CAC, LTV, conversion by plan tier, and activation metrics. Surfaces insights and recommends where to invest next.
- Marketing automation & AI ops: builds and maintains the AI/automation layer of the growth engine. Think automated reporting, AI-assisted creative testing, agentic workflows for campaign management and iteration. Comfortable operating without a dedicated growth engineer.
What they support
- Lifecycle & retention marketing: onboarding flows, activation campaigns, re-engagement, and win-back sequences.
- Onboarding optimization: onboarding flow iteration to get new users to first value faster, in coordination with Product.
- Upgrade & expansion: Campaigns and in-product prompts that move users up plan tiers as usage grows.
- Free-to-paid conversion & activation: Identifying the "aha moment," reducing time-to-value, and driving trial/freemium users toward upgrade.
Candidate must-haves
- 5+ years of experience in growth marketing at a SaaS company, ideally SMB-focused or PLG, Seed or Series A.
- Full-funnel growth ownership (not just execution within someone else's strategy)
- Hands-on paid media experience with real budget accountability
- Working knowledge of CRO, SEO, and AI/LLM optimization
- Expert in tracking, reporting, and quickly iterating on funnel/activation metrics
- Experience building growth infrastructure and processes from scratch, not just optimizing existing systems.
- Comfortable operating with minimal engineering support; a hands-on builder who thrives in an early-stage environment.
- Demonstrated AI fluency: can show specific examples of workflows they've automated with AI
- Wants to stay hands-on in the work. No expectation of building or managing a team in the near term
