About Float

Float Studio is a small interior design studio based in NYC. We work across workplace and commercial interiors, with a hospitality driven approach and a big focus on the details that make a space feel intentional. Our team is small, friendly, and tight. We care about doing great work without burning people out. We are looking for someone who is calm, organized, and genuinely enjoys working in a small team.

Role

We are looking for a Senior Interior Designer who brings an interdisciplinary perspective, strong design sensibility, and a highly organized, detail-oriented approach across all projects. This role leads project teams across all phases of design, from programming and concept through FF&E sourcing and installation. Because we are a smaller studio, project needs shift week to week. Some weeks may require creative thinking, real time project management, and problem solving. Other weeks may lean into concept development, sourcing research, or client presentations. The role requires someone comfortable moving between design tasks while maintaining a high level of precision. This is an in person role. You will assist with site visits, and installation days as needed. We are looking for someone who has an innate understanding of the value of relationships with project team members, contractors, clients and vendors alike.

  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, punch lists and post occupancy reports as needed
  • Prepare client presentations, communicate design intent, and relay feedback
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, contractors, and internal team to ensure smooth project execution

Studio Standards

  • Gain familiarity with and uphold the firm’s brand guidelines and standards
  • Support studio initiatives, including knowledge sharing, process improvement, and design innovation

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Interior Design
  • 6-9 years of post-graduate experience in interior design
  • Proven experience managing junior staff within a studio environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of project scopes, budgets, pricing and feasibility, and interior design practices
  • Strong pulse on the creative industry with an eye for design, architecture, and art
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, Google Suite, and Miro
