Posted September 15, 2026 Freelance United Kingdom Remote £2-5k ‍ Tabula Rasa is a roguelite deckbuilder set in an elegant monochrome world punctuated by vivid elemental colour. We’re looking for a UI artist to help define a clean, stylish, and highly readable visual language for this complex tactical game. ‍We’re looking for UK-based candidates, due to contracting, tax, and funding considerations.‍ ‍ Key Challenges

  • Making the complex gameplay systems legible
  • Creating a stylish and distinctive feel while remaining elegant and clear
  • Grouping and presenting information with a clear hierarchy
  • Defining an elemental colour palette that doesn’t look busy or discordant

‍

Artistic Overview

Tabula Rasa is a 3D game with an angled top-down view that gives the player a full view of the current hexagonal combat grid (or non-combat "encounter"). Character scale on screen is therefore fairly small. Each encounter is a diorama surrounded by a dense but minimal environment that varies by biome - for example it could be a dense forest, a sprawling factory, or something more abstract like a misty void.‍ ‍ ‍ Scope of Work In this first phase, you will be responsible for designing and creating a mock UI based on a comprehensive style guide and the existing game prototype, which will be layered over concept art to allow us to evaluate our planned visual direction. A successful engagement will lead to further work refining the mockups into a complete UI design, ready for us to implement in-engine.‍ ‍ ‍Selection Criteria We are looking for an experienced UI artist who can deliver a bold UI design that simultaneously injects substantial personality and style into our game, while also making the complex gameplay concepts easier for players to digest.
